| Back in the States, Mr Beil learned to drive a pick-up truck in Marshall, Texas, and encountered only minor trouble with the local sheriff. Later, in Austin, he studied architecture and painted his first masterpiece, a scene of seafaring sheep dubbed "Muttony on the Bounty."
